John Payne is a Senior Vice President in Heitman’s Client Service & Marketing group, leading Heitman’s Defined Contribution practice. Prior to joining Heitman, John was an Executive Director at UBS Global Asset Management where he headed Corporate Strategy for the Americas, was Deputy Head of Institutional, and a Client Advisor in the firm’s Defined Contribution and Retirement Solutions Group. John began his career in real estate asset management in the early 90’s with the Silverman Organization managing and developing anchor tenant retail properties. He also worked for Colonial Mutual Funds and Cerulli Associates in Boston, and for UBS for 11 years in both New York City and Chicago. John received his BA from Hamilton College and an MBA from Babson. He is a Series 6 and 7 Registered Representative.
Jennifer PerkinsPrincipal Real Estate Investors
Jennifer Perkins is a portfolio manager at Principal Real Estate Investors, the dedicated real estate unit of Principal Global Investors. She is responsible for the development, implementation and advancement of real estate investment solutions for the defined contribution retirement market. Jennifer joined the firm in 1995 and spent seven years in the asset management/dispositions and acquisitions area before joining the Principal U.S. Property Account team in 2002. Tracey Luke Invesco
Ms. Luke joined Invesco in 2012 and currently serves as a Product Manager responsible for developing and managing real estate products and strategies with a focus on Invesco’s core open-ended commingled funds across the globe. In addition to her product management responsibilities, Ms. Luke shares responsibility for the coverage of select institutional capital sources and partners globally. Prior to her current role, Ms. Luke served as a Portfolio Manager for Invesco Core Real Estate – U.S.A., Invesco’s U.S. open-end commingled fund.
Prior to joining Invesco, Ms. Luke was with Liquid Realty Partners, a $1.2 billion global real estate secondaries firm where she served as the Director of Portfolio Management. Prior to Liquid Realty Partners, Ms. Luke held various positions including Experienced Manager in the Global Real Estate Consulting Group at Andersen, Asset Manager at J.E. Robert Companies and Director of Marketing and Corporate Development for a $2.5 billion financial services firm, Chela Education Financing.
Ms. Luke holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from London Business School and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Ms. Luke has 23 years of professional experience including 16 years of real estate experience.

Mr. Swaringen has more than 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, including a variety of leadership and investment management positions with LaSalle Investment Management and other leading institutions. A leading industry expert and advocate for standards and transparency in the non-listed REIT space, Mr. Swaringen has served as a speaker and featured panelist at numerous industry conferences. Mr. Swaringen holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.S. from the University of Illinois.

Jason is a portfolio manager at Principal Real Estate Investors, the dedicated real estate group of Principal Global Investors. He is responsible for the development and advancement of new business initiatives including new fund launches for Principal Real Estate Investors. Jason joined the firm in 1999. Previously, Jason was a director - capital markets for Principal Commercial Funding. He received an MBA from the University of Iowa and a bachelor’s degree in finance and real estate from the University of Northern Iowa. Jason is a member of Defined Contribution Real Estate Council and an active member on the research committee. Jason is also a member of the trade association Commercial Real Estate Finance Council. Jason is a Registered Representative of Princor Financial Services Corporation and has passed the FINRA Series 7 and 66 examinations.
Michael O'Connor Clarion Partners
Michael O’Connor is a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Clarion Partners. Prior to joining Portfolio Management, Michael was an Acquisitions Officer with the firm and structured real estate investment transactions in the private and public markets. He also previously served as a Vice President with Clarion’s Research Team. Michael joined Clarion Partners in 1997 and has over 26 years of real estate experience. Michael is a graduate of Brown University and earned his Master of Business Administration in finance from Columbia University. He is also member of the Urban Land Institute and a founding member of the Defined Contribution Real Estate Council.
Mary Adams ECG
Mary Adams is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with more than 16 years experience in the conference, meeting planning, association management and marketing business. ECG is a focused firm, specializing in the financial services industry. In addition to running ECG, Mary is the Executive Director for the Bergen County Professional Women’s Network. Mary is frequently invited to speak on the topics of meeting planning, entrepreneurship and women in business.
Prior to launching ECG, Mary worked for Merck & Co. as a professional sales representative in the cardiovascular, neuroscience and orthopedic markets. She came to Merck & Co. after helping to establish the Life Sciences division of Worldwide Business Research, a conference company in New York City, where she produced conferences on drug discovery and online retail. Before moving to New York, Mary worked in marketing with the president of an automotive engineering company in Cleveland, Ohio. While there, she produced one-on-one sales meetings, spearheaded the company’s brand identity campaign, and managed all marketing and sales support initiatives.
Mary graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She earned her Masters in Business Administration from Fordham University in New York, where she graduated with Beta Gamma Sigma, American Marketing Association and Phi Kappa Phi honors.
