Establishing and promoting best practices is a vital component of DCREC’s mission. The Best Practices Committee is charged with engaging the broader DC community—including plan sponsors, consultants, related industry organizations (REIS, NCREIF, PREA) and regulators—to review best practices and establish standards that facilitate the inclusion of real estate investment opportunities in DC plans.

The Research Committee is responsible for ensuring that DCREC meets its mission to educate and inform DC plan sponsors, administrators, investment advisors, members and other industry stakeholders via ensuring the organization provides a steady flow of research reports on pressing issues of DC plan investment in real estate.

The mission of the Strategic Alliance Committee is to expand and reinforce the relationships between associations and organizations that share a common interest in furthering the role of real estate in DC plans. DCREC is committed to collaborating with affiliated organizations to support education and research, promulgate standards and encourage the adoption of best practices for the benefit of plan sponsors, fiduciary advisors and DC plan participants.

The Membership Committee sets the guidelines and criteria for membership in DCREC, and makes recommendations to the Board regarding the addition of new members.

DCREC has grown rapidly from an initial group of 9 founding members, to 27 organizations today.  The membership includes major real estate investment managers who collectively manage nearly $1.1 trillion in real estate assets, as well as law firms, leading consultant groups, and other affiliated organizations.

The role of the Marketing and Public Relations Committee is to foster awareness of the organization, its research and its educational mission among key DC industry constituencies including plan sponsors, consultants and potential members.

The Finance Committee oversees the finances of the organization by collecting membership dues and overseeing expenditures for research, conferences, events, promotion and other matters.
